Enjoy a private group surf lesson designed for 2 to 4 people. Whether you're learning with family or friends, you'll receive personalised guidance from an experienced instructor while progressing together at your own pace. Learn the fundamentals of surfing, understand ocean safety, and share the excitement of catching your first waves in a fun and supportive environment.

Where we'll meet
Praia do Monte Verde, Ribeira Grande
We'll confirm the exact time and meeting spot the day before your lesson. It's very likely to be at the meeting point shown here, unless surf or weather conditions call for a better spot.
Things to know
Our instructors
Our instructors are experienced, patient and safety-first. Many grew up surfing these Azorean beaches. Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re fine-tuning your turns, they adapt every session to you and keep the whole group comfortable in the water.
Activity level
Suited for beginner surfers. We match the spot and waves to your level, coached by a certified local instructor (ISA level II).
What to bring
Swimwear, a towel, water and sunscreen. Surfboard, wetsuit and leash are on us. Bring your own if you prefer.
Booking notice
Lessons must be booked at least 24 hours in advance, so our instructors can plan the day and get the gear ready. Looking for something sooner? Get in touch and we will do our best.
Cancellation policy
Plans changed? Email us at geral@blacksandbox.pt at least 48 hours before the lesson to reschedule or cancel. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the lesson are not refundable.
